BW Converting’s Meridian Elite+ Boosts Amcor Operations

BW Converting is reporting impressive early performance results from its newly launched PCMC Meridian Elite+ laser anilox cleaner, now running at multiple customer facilities, including Amcor Flexibles North America (AFNA), a global leader in flexible packaging production.

Launched in early 2025 under the legacy PCMC brand, the Meridian Elite+ represents the sixth-generation advancement of BW Converting’s laser roll cleaning technology. It is specifically designed to bring next-level automation, precision, and data-driven maintenance to modern flexographic pressrooms.

AFNA is one of the first converters to fully deploy the system in a high-volume production environment.

“The Meridian Elite+ takes our anilox management program to the next level,” said Erica Kirinovic, Manufacturing Process Improvement Engineer at AFNA. “By integrating anilox volume measurement directly into the cleaning cycle, the system has replaced a previously manual two-step process. This eliminates potential damage risk during measurement, enhances consistency, and frees operators to focus on other vital pressroom operations.”

The Meridian Elite+ uses advanced laser ablation to automatically clean ink, adhesive, and coating residue from anilox and gravure rolls while simultaneously inspecting cell volume with a built-in microscope. If required, a second cleaning cycle is automatically triggered, ensuring thorough recovery without manual intervention.

This closed-loop system also records and stores each roll’s cleaning history and volume data in a connected roll health database. The result is superior first-pass print quality, quicker job changeovers, and extended roll life.

With over 250 laser cleaning systems installed worldwide, BW Converting continues to set industry standards in automated roll cleaning. The Meridian Elite+ is offered in various configurations, designed, manufactured, and serviced entirely under the PCMC brand.
