BW Converting Expands Packaging Innovation Center Training

Advanced flexo training, technology demos, and hands-on learning for converters.
BW Converting’s Packaging Innovation Center in Green Bay continues to elevate industry skills with immersive training, collaborative sessions, and real-time demonstrations designed to strengthen flexographic printing performance.
BW Converting’s Packaging Innovation Center in Green Bay remains a cornerstone of the company’s commitment to helping converters enhance skills through hands-on training, collaborative learning and real-time demonstrations. Designed specifically for operator development and customer engagement, the center replicates a fully functional pressroom, complete with active equipment, expert instruction, and guided production experiences that help printers sharpen troubleshooting abilities, gain operational confidence and elevate overall pressroom performance.
The facility is equipped for platemaking, plate mounting, digital and flexographic printing, as well as bag converting. A recent addition to the center is the PCMC Meridian Elite+ laser anilox cleaner, capable of cleaning four 52-inch rolls simultaneously without water, chemicals, or compressed air — reinforcing BW Converting’s focus on sustainable practices, worker safety, and reduced maintenance downtime.
The center frequently conducts three-day seminars in partnership with Fox Valley Flexo Services, led by two former Fox Valley Technical College instructors. With decades of hands-on expertise, the trainers adapt every session to the unique needs and skill levels of each group. The intentionally small class sizes encourage personalized instruction, practical troubleshooting, and direct engagement with the equipment.
“Every session is shaped around the specific needs of the people in the room,” said Mark Keller of Fox Valley Flexo Services. “We focus on fundamentals, but we go deep where it matters, whether that's troubleshooting press components or understanding how ink and substrate choices affect final output.”
Course topics include press setup and operation, mounting tapes, printing plates, doctor blades, color processes, ink management, corona treatment and more. Attendees participate in live production demos and guided press operation, reinforcing concepts with real-world application.
In 2026, BW Converting will expand access to the PCMC Meridian Elite+. The initiative begins with the Harper Roadshow in January, offering attendees a firsthand look at the system through live demonstrations in a production environment.
“The Packaging Innovation Center allows us to demonstrate real-world solutions in a setting that encourages learning, experimentation and connection,” said Rodney Pennings, Director of Sales, Print at BW Converting. “Whether you’re a technician refining your skills or a converter evaluating new technologies, this is a place built to support your goals.”
Training is open to anyone interested in understanding the flexographic printing process, including press operators, pre-production teams, assistants, customer service representatives, and maintenance staff.
The final 2025 session took place from December 2–4. The full training calendar for 2026 will be released shortly.
