BTMA Members to Unveil Breakthrough Testing Tools at ITMA Asia

The British Textile Machinery Association (BTMA) and its member companies will debut cutting-edge innovations in textile testing and machine control at ITMA Asia + CITME 2025 in Singapore. These developments highlight the UK's leadership in advanced fabric evaluation tools.

The new Roaches International Sentire.
Sentire by Roaches International addresses a major industry challenge—how to measure and communicate the tactile quality of fabrics objectively. Developed with the University of Leeds, Sentire uses a haptic spatial system to generate a ‘fingerprint’ of fabric handle, enabling digital communication of fabric softness, drape, and texture. Roaches MD Sean O’Neill likens it to the spectrophotometer’s impact on colour assessment.

Shelton Vision’s latest WebSpector in action.
WebSpector by Shelton Vision advances defect detection by adapting to complex patterns and fabric distortions in real time. Its patented imaging system now effectively inspects patterned and distorted fabrics, expanding its usefulness in sectors from fashion to composites.

The new James Heal Martindale Motion.
Martindale Motion by James Heal reinvents the classic abrasion and pilling tester. With nine independently operating stations and automated evaluation stops, it allows multiple textile tests to run simultaneously without operator supervision, improving lab productivity.
BTMA CEO Jason Kent highlighted that many members are co-developing technologies and advancing textile testing beyond previous limits. These innovations enhance quality assurance and support manufacturers in verifying product claims.
Founded in 1940, BTMA connects British textile machinery manufacturers with global textile producers and promotes continuous innovation.
