B.I.G. Yarns has secured an EcoVadis Platinum rating, achieving a score of 86/100 and ranking among the top one percent of over 130,000 companies evaluated worldwide for sustainability performance.

B.I.G. Yarns, the carpet yarn division of B.I.G. and a manufacturer of polyamide (PA), polypropylene (PP), and polyester (PET) yarns for contract, automotive, and premium residential markets, has been awarded the EcoVadis Platinum Medal, the highest distinction granted by the global sustainability assessment platform.

With an overall score of 86 out of 100, the company is positioned within the top 1% of all organisations assessed by EcoVadis globally. The evaluation covers four core areas: environmental performance, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement, based on independent third-party analysis.

The Platinum rating reflects long-term investments made by B.I.G. Yarns in responsible manufacturing, governance transparency, and climate-focused operational practices, reinforcing its approach to sustainability across the value chain.

Sustainability aligned with operational strategy

According to Emmanuel Colchen, General Manager of B.I.G. Yarns, the company continues to integrate sustainability considerations alongside technological development, focusing on efficiency, responsible production, and workplace safety. He noted that embedding sustainability into innovation helps ensure long-term resilience while addressing evolving customer and regulatory expectations.

Investment in technology and efficiency

As part of its growth strategy, B.I.G. Yarns invested more than €25 million in 2025 in advanced production technologies. These upgrades enhanced energy efficiency, increased manufacturing flexibility, and supported European production capabilities.

The investment included next-generation bulk continuous filament (BCF) lines, strengthening the company’s position in one-step 3-ply yarns used in carpet tile applications. The updated technology enables broader design options while lowering environmental impact through improved process efficiency.

In parallel, the company expanded its Sustainable Yarns platform, offering solutions designed to reduce the carbon footprint of carpet products without affecting performance, colour consistency, or design flexibility.

Value for partners and stakeholders

The EcoVadis Platinum recognition supports customers’ sustainability and ESG objectives by providing independent verification of responsible practices, ethical sourcing, and risk management. It also signals alignment with global compliance frameworks and evolving sustainability standards.

This milestone reinforces confidence among customers, partners, investors, and employees, while underscoring B.I.G. Yarns’ ongoing commitment to continuous improvement beyond regulatory requirements.
