BGMEA and SDC Sign MoU to Advance Sustainable Textile Manufacturing and Colour Science in Bangladesh

Three-year partnership to strengthen colour science education, sustainable manufacturing, research collaboration and skills development across Bangladesh's textile sector

The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), the apex trade body of Bangladesh's ready-made garment industry, and the Society of Dyers and Colourists (SDC), a global authority in coloration and textile science, have signed an MoU establishing a framework for greater collaboration in education, sustainability and innovation.

The partnership will focus on strengthening technical knowledge and skills within Bangladesh's textile and garment sector while supporting the adoption of sustainable manufacturing practices and emerging technologies.

Key Areas of Collaboration

Under the agreement, BGMEA and SDC will work to:

• Educate textile and garment professionals in Bangladesh on colour science, artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies.
• Promote sustainable manufacturing practices, including the use of natural fibres, plant-based dyes and bio-based materials.
• Connect Bangladeshi universities and institutions with SDC's global knowledge network to strengthen links between academic research and industrial applications.

Focus on Sustainable Innovation and Global Knowledge Exchange

The collaboration will also support pilot projects involving bio-based materials and make use of the BGMEA Innovation Center for applied research.

The partnership will further provide opportunities for international knowledge exchange and exposure through global publications, including Coloration Technology.

Three-Year Agreement

The MoU will remain in effect for three years. BGMEA and SDC will conduct joint annual reviews of the agreement during its term.
