At the upcoming Plastics Recycling Show Europe 2026 in Amsterdam on May 5–6, BB Engineering will showcase its advanced portfolio of PET recycling technologies. The German machinery manufacturer will once again place strong emphasis on textile recycling and melt filtration.
Versatile PET Recycling Solutions with Textile Focus
BB Engineering offers a wide range of components and systems for film production, synthetic fibres, and PET recycling. Its portfolio includes extruders, filtration systems, and complete spinning and recycling plants, enabling end-to-end PET recycling solutions from a single source.
Building on its expertise in synthetic fibre manufacturing, the company has a strong focus on textile PET recycling.
At PRSE 2026, BB Engineering will highlight its VacuFil® and COBRA® systems.
VacuFil® Visco+: High-Standard PET Recycling
The VacuFil® PET recycling system combines gentle large-area filtration with precise IV control, ensuring consistently high-quality rPET melt output.
It supports multiple recycling pathways, from bottle-to-bottle to 100% fibre-to-fibre applications. Its modular structure allows adaptation to specific requirements, processing diverse PET feedstocks such as flakes, textile waste, fibre waste, and start-up material.
The system precisely adjusts intrinsic viscosity (IV) to meet end-product requirements.
At its core, the patented Visco+ unit uses liquid-state polycondensation to remove volatile contaminants and produce a highly uniform melt with viscosity stability of ±0.01 dl/g, delivering up to 50% faster performance compared to conventional LSP systems. Depending on throughput, it can achieve up to 30% IV increase.
Continuous monitoring through an online viscometer ensures stable, reproducible output. VacuFil® operates within a capacity range of 150 to 4,000 kg/h.
COBRA®: Advanced Melt Filtration Technology
With the development of its latest melt filtration system COBRA®, BB Engineering addresses increasing industry demands for efficient recycling operations.
The system is designed to handle high contamination levels while simplifying cleaning and filter replacement, significantly reducing operational costs.
COBRA® integrates continuous large-area filtration with automated, chemical-free intermediate cleaning. Its dual-cartridge system with automatic switching ensures uninterrupted and stable operation even under heavily contaminated conditions, where conventional filters often fail.
A key advantage is its integrated cleaning mechanism, which extends filter life, reduces melt losses, lowers energy consumption, and eliminates the need for chemicals. This improves process reliability while reducing long-term operational costs.
Thanks to its flexibility, COBRA® supports both coarse and fine filtration. Beyond PET recycling, it can also be applied in plastic spinning processes and can be easily retrofitted into existing systems to improve efficiency.
