Barmag Showcases Next-Generation Fiber Production Technologies at ITMA Asia 2026

New spinning systems, smart factory solutions and automation technologies take center stage as Barmag outlines its vision for future-ready textile manufacturing

Barmag has announced its latest portfolio of man-made fiber production technologies ahead of ITMA Asia 2026, where the company will present new spinning concepts, digital manufacturing platforms and automation solutions designed for filament, staple fiber and nonwovens production. The company will showcase its technologies from November 20 to 24, 2026, at Booth D45, Hall 6.1, at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC), Shanghai.

The product lineup focuses on production efficiency, automation, energy savings, sustainability and digitalization, with the launch of Barmag POY 2.0 positioned as the centerpiece of its exhibition.


Barmag introduces POY 2.0 production concept

According to the company, POY 2.0 represents a redesigned spinning process that integrates spinning, quenching, winding and digital process control into a unified production concept rather than improving individual machine components separately.

The system is intended to improve yarn quality, productivity, labor efficiency and sustainability simultaneously.

A key feature is the new Barmag WINGS POY 2.0 winder, equipped with a fully automatic string-up function designed to reduce startup times, minimize waste generation and lower manual operator intervention.

"For decades, productivity improvements in spinning were often measured in percentages. With POY 2.0, we set out to rethink the entire process from the ground up," said André Wissenberg, Head of Marketing, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs at Barmag. "The result is a solution that simultaneously addresses the industry's most pressing challenges: efficiency, quality, sustainability, and workforce availability. This is not a machine upgrade. It is a new production philosophy."


Engineering improvements target efficiency and energy savings

The POY 2.0 platform also incorporates several new process components, including:

  • DIO Spin Pack Generation 2, designed to improve rheological performance and deliver more homogeneous filament quality.
  • A more compact spin pack design that reduces filter sand consumption by approximately one-third.
  • Component weight reduced by more than 30%.
  • A redesigned spinning beam aimed at achieving energy savings of up to 10% through reduced surface areas.
  • EvoQuench 2.0, developed to simplify process adjustments, improve filament quenching and reduce off-quality production during product changes.

"Our customers are no longer looking at individual machine specifications," explained Wissenberg. "They are evaluating total operational performance. Energy efficiency, waste reduction, ease of operation and reproducible quality all directly influence profitability. Our solution POY 2.0 was designed around exactly these priorities."


Digital platform supports connected manufacturing

Barmag will also present atmos.io, its digital manufacturing platform designed to connect machines across the production process.

According to the company, the platform enables continuous collection and analysis of production data, assigning each bobbin a digital identity throughout manufacturing and warehouse operations.

The app-based platform is intended to provide production transparency while supporting process optimization, quality monitoring and integration with existing factory infrastructure.

"The future competition among yarn manufacturers will not be decided by who owns the most machines," said Wissenberg. "It will be decided by who can transform production data into actionable intelligence. atmos.io is enabling exactly that transformation."


WINGS FDY FLEX designed for production flexibility

To address changing market requirements, Barmag is introducing WINGS FDY FLEX, a winding system developed for faster product changeovers and broader production flexibility.

The system supports multiple yarn types, including recycled polyester materials, allowing manufacturers to adapt more quickly to changing production requirements.


Texturing technology focuses on lower energy use

Barmag will also showcase the eFK EvoSmart texturing machine, featuring:

  • EvoHeater technology
  • Smart Godet technology
  • Energy consumption reductions of up to 25% per kilogram of yarn
  • Maintenance effort reduced by up to 50% through replaceable heater inserts and optimized airflow systems

The company also highlighted its June 2026 partnership with India's Hitech Automation Solutions to integrate the Doffmatic automation solution into eFK systems.


Neumag technologies expand automation in staple fiber production

Barmag's Neumag product line will present several developments for staple fiber manufacturing, including:

  • EvoSteam process technology aimed at reducing energy consumption while improving fiber quality
  • EvoDuct and EvE-2 systems for airflow optimization and monomer extraction
  • Robotic spin pack cleaning technology intended to improve cleaning consistency, extend service intervals and reduce labor requirements

"Automation is not about replacing people," said Wissenberg. "It is about allowing skilled operators to focus on higher-value activities while ensuring greater process consistency and operational excellence."


New solutions for carpet yarn manufacturing

For carpet yarn production, Neumag will introduce:

  • BICO BCF technology, designed to improve carpet bulk and recovery while reducing face fiber consumption by approximately 20%
  • FiberGuard BCF, a sensor-based monitoring system that continuously measures yarn tension and automatically adjusts production parameters. The technology can also be retrofitted onto existing BCF installations.

Nonwoven and recycling technologies on display

In the nonwovens segment, Barmag will showcase hycuTEC, a patented meltblown technology capable of achieving electrostatic charging efficiencies of up to 99.99% using osmosis-treated water for filtration applications.

The company will also present Barmag Huitong Engineering's homogenization technology, designed to support thermomechanical recycling of post-industrial polyester waste such as bottle flakes and film materials. The system enables viscosity control for producing pellets, melt or fibers suitable for direct spinning while supporting recycled PET (rPET) production.


Focus on integrated manufacturing

According to Barmag, its latest technologies combine machinery, software, automation and sustainability into an integrated production ecosystem intended to help manufacturers improve productivity, energy efficiency and process control while addressing evolving market requirements.

The company will present its complete portfolio during ITMA Asia 2026, taking place from November 20–24, 2026, at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC), Shanghai.
