Barmag Launches 6020 Ceramic Oiler for Low-Titer Yarn Applications

New ceramic oiler for PA6, PA6.6 and PET POY yarns is designed to improve spinfinish application, yarn quality and process stability.

Barmag's new 6020 ceramic oiler has been engineered specifically for low-titer yarn production, incorporating design features aimed at improving process reliability and product quality.

The yarn inlet section allows the yarn to become saturated with oil before contacting the ceramic surface, supporting filament-friendly processing and helping minimise fluff formation. A three-wave geometry reduces yarn contact, while an integrated ceramic shaft replaces conventional glued metal shafts, eliminating issues such as clogged oil lines or detached ceramic components.

The design also features optimised yarn guidance to achieve consistent spinfinish application with minimal spray-off and high application uniformity (low OCV).

Focus on Quality and Process Efficiency

According to Barmag, the new ceramic oiler delivers several operational advantages for filament manufacturers.

Key benefits include:

  • Stable spinfinish application rate (OPU)
  • Uniform oil distribution with low OCV
  • Reduced yarn breaks and loop formation
  • Lower spray-off in low-titer applications
  • Reduced oil contamination in quench and winding areas
  • Improved process reliability
  • Easier yarn threading through a visible thread guide
  • Precise adjustment for faster machine setup

These features are intended to improve production efficiency while maintaining consistent yarn quality.

Performance Confirmed in Customer Trials

Barmag reported successful testing of the 6020 ceramic oiler with international customers processing PA6 and PA6.6 POY yarns.

According to the company, trials achieved:

  • Completely spray-off-free processing
  • More uniform yarn tension
  • Approximately 23% higher spinfinish application rate compared to standard solutions

The ceramic oiler was also evaluated in PET POY fulldull and flat yarn applications. In comparative testing against products from multiple suppliers, Barmag stated that the 6020 ceramic oiler was the only solution to maintain stable performance without loop formation or broken filaments (BF).

With the introduction of the 6020 ceramic oiler, Barmag aims to provide filament manufacturers with a solution that combines integrated ceramic technology, optimised yarn guidance and stable process parameters.

The company says the new design supports improved yarn quality, enhanced process stability and greater production efficiency across demanding low-titer filament applications.
