Barmag Introduces FiberGuard BCF System for Real-Time Yarn Tension Monitoring

FiberGuard BCF is the newly developed system designed for real-time monitoring of yarn tension across all Neumag BCF production processes. Barmag, the technology specialist for filament spinning systems, unveiled the latest addition to its Neumag portfolio at ITMA Asia + CITME in Singapore in November.
The newly developed BCF yarn tension sensor is compatible with all current Neumag BCF machines and can also be retrofitted to existing Neumag BCF S8 installations. By combining sensor technology with dedicated software, the system aims to improve process stability and support consistent product quality.

FiberGuard BCF uses sensors and software to ensure that process stability and product quality are improved in the long term.
FiberGuard BCF continuously measures yarn tension between the twisting and winding stages during production. When deviations are detected, the system automatically intervenes by adjusting process parameters without manual input. This automated response helps reduce material waste, improve operational efficiency, and contribute to more sustainable production practices.
Operators can access live process data via the human-machine interface (HMI), set individual threshold values for reporting, and activate automatic correction functions. The system also allows the creation of customised reference curves for yarn tension during the doffing process, enabling producers to adapt settings to specific product requirements.
According to Jan Pauer, Head of Service Products in Neumünster and responsible for the new system, early market response has been positive. He stated,
“Our discussions with interested BCF producers at ITMA Asia have shown that we have listened to our customers. FiberGuard is the next step in all Neumag BCF processes. The combination of hardware and intelligent software opens the door to a new production possibility characterized by reliable thread tension measurement and automated process adjustment.”
