Barmag Expands Digital Academy to China for BCF Yarn Manufacturing Training

Chinese BCF yarn producer Taicang Universal Fibers adopts online training platform as Barmag prepares additional courses for POY and staple fibre processes.

Barmag has introduced a Chinese-language version of its Digital Academy, an online training centre for the bulked continuous filament (BCF) process. Launched three years ago in English, Spanish, French and Turkish, the platform is now available in Chinese, extending access to its digital training programme for customers in China.

The platform currently has 450 active users, most of whom are based in the United States. Taicang Universal Fibers Co. Ltd. is among the companies using the programme to train employees at their machines and support equipment operation.

Taicang Universal Fibers Uses Online Training

The Chinese-language launch allows Taicang Universal Fibers to use the Digital Academy to support employee training at its facility.

“With the Digital Academy, we can provide our employees with optimal support and further increase the efficiency of our equipment,” says Tom Yu, Facility Manager at Taicang Universal Fibers.

Barmag's online courses are designed to reduce disruption to production compared with in-person training. The company also states that digital courses can be targeted to specific training needs and made available more quickly.

Training Covers BCF Machine Operation and Maintenance

Available through the e-commerce platform myBarmag.com, the Digital Academy provides e-learning modules covering the operation, maintenance and repair of Neumag BCF S+ and S8 systems.

The programme is intended for machine operators, process engineers, technicians and quality managers. Its training units are organised by role and can be accessed through mobile devices and desktop computers, allowing participants to apply the material in their work.

The platform also provides training based on Barmag's original equipment manufacturer (OEM) expertise. It sets out standardised procedures for machine operation and maintenance, including detailed guidance on established working practices.

Assessments and Certificates Track Learning Progress

The Digital Academy incorporates progress assessments to help participants reinforce the training content. Examinations and certificates document learning achievements, while feedback features allow users to raise questions about their understanding of the material.

Access to the platform is provided on a location-specific or company-specific basis.

Additional Courses in Development

Barmag is preparing to extend the Digital Academy beyond BCF yarn manufacturing. A training programme covering the partially oriented yarn (POY) process is about to be rolled out, while online training courses for the staple fibre process are in preparation.

The planned additions are intended to make the platform available to customers using other Barmag and Neumag processes.
