Atelier Soleil and SAIPL Global Launch Vietnam-Inspired Textile Collection for Hospitality and Residential Spaces
Florence Mussou’s sensory design approach meets Jaipur-based SAIPL Global’s textile expertise in a collection shaped by Vietnam’s landscapes, colours, plants and craft traditions.
Atelier Soleil, a sensory design studio dedicated to hospitality spaces, has joined forces with SAIPL Global, an Indian textile design and manufacturing company, to create a new collection of printed and plain textiles inspired by Vietnam.
Founded by Florence Mussou, Atelier Soleil approaches textile design as a way of expressing the identity of a place. The collaboration with SAIPL Global brings this concept into material form through a collection developed around Vietnamese landscapes, botanical elements, colours and traditional know-how.
For Mussou, the creative process begins with observing and understanding a territory rather than simply applying decorative patterns. Earth, stones, plants, colours, materials, light and local craftsmanship become sources for developing the visual and tactile language of each collection.
"I'm not trying to apply a pattern to a place. I first try to understand what the place says. The landscapes, the plants, the colours, the materials and the know-how are all fragments that then make it possible to build a coherent and sensitive universe," explains Florence Mussou, founder and creative director of Atelier Soleil.
Four Vietnam-Inspired Gardens
The collection is organised into four creative themes, each drawing from different aspects of Vietnam’s natural landscapes, botanical elements and cultural traditions.
Jardin des Tropiques – Tropical Garden
Inspired by the bird of paradise flower and tropical vegetation following rainfall, this collection combines palm trees and lush foliage with deep greens and accents of orange and coral.
Jardin de l’Indigo – Indigo Garden
The Indigo Garden takes inspiration from Vietnamese batik traditions and the deeper tones found in nature. Patterns influenced by artisanal techniques are paired with indigo and shades of blue and purple to create a more contemplative visual direction.
Jardin du Riz – Rice Garden
The Rice Garden draws from Vietnamese rice fields and harvest landscapes. Tall grasses, rice ears and the movement of wind are translated into patterns and natural tones, with a palette extending from straw shades to landscape greens.
Jardin du Soleil – Solar Garden
The Solar Garden takes inspiration from Vietnam’s yellow chrysanthemums and kumquats found in local markets. Turmeric yellow, kumquat orange and deep blue form the principal palette, while also reflecting colours associated with the South of France, Florence Mussou's homeland.
Across the four themes, printed patterns are combined with solid-colour textiles to create coordinated environments. The collection features designs inspired by tropical foliage, batik, rice fields, fruits and flowers, alongside solid shades selected to complement the prints.
From Creative Concept to Textile Production
The development of the collection brings together Atelier Soleil’s creative direction and the manufacturing expertise of SAIPL Global (Shree Ashtavinayak Impex Pvt Ltd), a Jaipur-based company specialising in textile and clothing design, development and manufacturing.
SAIPL Global has more than 15 years of experience in textile design and works with a network of craftsmen while employing various printing, embroidery, textile and tailoring techniques. Its capabilities support projects from creative development through to production of the finished product.
The company is also SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade) certified. The certification is based on regular audits intended to assess compliance with ethical standards over time and monitor the company’s commitments.
"This collaboration allows us to go beyond drawing. We can work on how an idea really becomes a material, a pattern and a textile capable of finding its place in a project," continues Florence Mussou.
Textiles as a Place-Making Element
The collaboration reflects Atelier Soleil’s wider approach to textiles within hospitality design. Rather than treating textiles only as decorative components, the studio considers them part of the storytelling and identity of a space.
Prints, colours, materials and plain textiles can work together to establish visual connections within hospitality and residential environments while relating a project to its geographical and cultural context.
The Vietnam-inspired collection has therefore been developed for hospitality projects and residential spaces where textiles can contribute to an overall atmosphere and identity.
The collaboration between Atelier Soleil and SAIPL Global also creates scope for developing customised textile collections for projects seeking to express connections with a specific territory, culture or history.
