Shri CA Shaurya Doval, founder of the India Foundation, addressed the Chartered Accountants’ community at an event organised by the Bombay Chartered Accountants’ Society (BCAS), emphasizing India’s growing influence in global affairs. The session featured a lecture titled “Ancient Roots, Global Routes: Reimagining Global Leadership for the Indian CA.”

Shri Doval noted that India’s emergence as a global power has become increasingly visible in recent years. From its pursuit of a permanent United Nations Security Council seat to asserting independent positions in international forums, India is now recognised as a key geopolitical and economic player. He highlighted India’s expanding influence across South Asia, Africa, West Asia, and Europe, and its status as the world’s fourth-largest economy.

Looking forward, Shri Doval stressed that India’s “hard power” will increasingly be shaped by its intellectual contributions. While India has long exported skilled professionals, he pointed out that the future lies in exporting Indian knowledge and ideas themselves. Examples like yoga and Ayurveda demonstrate the global resonance of India’s intellectual traditions. By leveraging technology, economic scale, and professional expertise, India can guide global systems responsibly while emerging as a Vishwaguru in knowledge and innovation.

The discussion also explored how Chartered Accountants can navigate the complexities of the global economic landscape while remaining rooted in ethical leadership and value-based decision-making. Shri Doval highlighted the role of Indian CAs in shaping responsible global leadership.

CA Zubin Billimoria, President of BCAS, remarked, “Events like these foster dialogue, learning, and reflection, enabling Chartered Accountants to prepare for leadership roles in a dynamic global economy. Such interactions strengthen our profession and broaden perspectives on governance, ethics, and global responsibility.”

Attendees were also given a guided tour of the Jyot Foundation Exhibition “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam Ki Oar 4: The 12 Principles That Can Shape a New World Order,” providing deeper insights into cultural and philosophical frameworks for global leadership.

Founded over seven decades ago, BCAS has played a pivotal role in shaping the Chartered Accountancy profession in India, extending its focus beyond technical education to leadership, governance, and professional ethics. Through lectures, conclaves, and publications, BCAS continues to equip members with the skills, judgment, and global outlook necessary for a rapidly evolving professional environment.

The event concluded with interactive sessions and networking opportunities, reflecting BCAS’ commitment to professional growth and leadership preparedness within the CA community.
