ASICS Launches GEL-NYC™ 2.0 Shoe with Updated Comfort and Design Features

ASICS introduces updated GEL-NYC™ 2.0 with enhanced cushioning and design features for everyday movement
ASICS has announced the release of the GEL-NYC™ 2.0 shoe on March 27. The model builds on its predecessor with updates aimed at improving movement, comfort, and everyday usability, while incorporating design elements from the brand’s archive.
ASICS has introduced the GEL-NYC™ 2.0 shoe, a new version of one of its existing models, designed with updates focused on movement efficiency and comfort. The release was announced on March 27 and reflects the company’s continued focus on combining design heritage with functional improvements.
The GEL-NYC™ 2.0 draws from the ASICS Archive, with development efforts aimed at maintaining design continuity while incorporating updated performance features. The shoe was developed in collaboration with designers and the ASICS Institute of Sport Science, reflecting influences from both Japanese design and New York-inspired elements.

Among the key updates in the GEL-NYC™ 2.0 is the inclusion of FF BLAST™ PLUS cushioning and strategically placed GEL™ technology units. These additions reduce overall weight compared to the previous version and are intended to improve comfort and responsiveness during use. The shoe also features a more streamlined fit.
According to ASICS, research into walking mechanics—different from running—was considered in the design. The shoe incorporates an asymmetrical arch support system and flex grooves to support stride efficiency during walking.
The GEL-NYC™ 2.0 is designed for a range of everyday activities, with durability and versatility suited for use on surfaces such as pavements or in gym environments. The product aligns with ASICS’ broader approach to movement science and its philosophy centered on “Sound Mind in a Sound Body.”
The GEL-NYC™ 2.0 shoe is priced at INR 13,999 and is available through online platforms and PAN India retail stores.
