ASICS Introduces GEL-STRATUS™ MC Sneaker Inspired by 2011–2014 Running Archives

New sneaker combines an archival GEL-STRATUS™ 4-inspired upper with GEL-JOG™ MC tooling and updated materials

ASICS has introduced the GEL-STRATUS™ MC sneaker, a design that draws from the brand’s running archives while incorporating materials and construction updates for contemporary use. The upper takes inspiration from the GEL-STRATUS™ 4, while the tooling comes from the GEL-JOG™ MC running shoe.

The GEL-STRATUS™ 4 was selected from ASICS’ 2011–2014 running archives for its gender-neutral flowing lines, distinctive midfoot panel structure and visible mesh. These design elements are carried into the new sneaker for daily wear, gym use and fashion styling.

Archival design meets current manufacturing requirements

During development, the team focused on recreating the original design while meeting current requirements for stitch widths, manufacturing tolerances and spacing between design details.

The approach centred on preserving the original upper rather than introducing new features or decorative elements. Particular attention was given to retaining the original line flow and relationships between the panels, requiring precision in the manufacturing process.

Updated materials and construction

While the upper remains closely connected to the archived GEL-STRATUS™ 4 design, several elements have been adapted for contemporary use.

The sneaker incorporates synthetic leather overlays and air mesh underlays, with the materials and shapes refined to improve ease of wear and comfort.

The midsole has been softened to reduce strain on the feet, while rearfoot GEL™ technology is included to support smooth propulsion and a comfortable fit.

ASICS has also replaced all mesh in the upper with recycled polyester as part of its broader commitment to environmental responsibility.

GEL-STRATUS™ MC availability in India

The GEL-STRATUS™ MC sneaker is available through the official ASICS India website and PAN India ASICS stores for INR 9,999.
