Archroma, BW & Monforts Boost Sustainable Finishing

Ahead of ITMA Asia + CITME 2025 in Singapore (October 28–31), textile industry leaders Archroma, BW Converting, and Monforts will join a VDMA-hosted webtalk on September 18 to share insights into a transformative sustainable finishing collaboration.
The discussion will showcase recent developments from Monforts’ Advanced Technology Center in Germany, where a Baldwin TexCoat™ G4 spray unit was integrated into a Montex stenter to test Archroma’s new water-based chemical solutions. The goal: maximize throughput and resource efficiency in textile finishing. Additionally, the companies will preview a new line concept to debut at ITMA Asia 2025.
The full-width Baldwin TexCoat G4 unit, installed in 2024, has enabled robust performance evaluations. Integrated into the Montex stenter, it has demonstrated precision and sustainability across diverse real-world applications.

“This setup allows us to guide textile manufacturers in shifting from conventional impregnation to spray application,” said Michael Schuhmann, Global Marketing Segment Manager, Archroma. “This method reduces water and energy usage by minimizing the water needed to apply chemicals.”
He also introduced a patent-pending, hydrophilic softener that improves wash durability and fabric longevity, which will soon be commercially available.
BW Converting reports successful commercialization of the TexCoat G4. In Pakistan, using Archroma chemistry with Montex stenters, the technology has helped double stenter output while improving fabric softness.
“We’ve boosted customer output and the feel of finished goods,” said Rick Stanford, VP of Business Development – Textiles, BW Converting.
Sustainability testing by Fashion for Good compared TexCoat G4 spraying with traditional pad-finishing on Monforts’ stenter using Archroma’s formulations. The results: reduced water and energy use, and improved capacity utilization, proving that tech, chemistry, and process expertise can unlock significant sustainability gains.
Monforts, known for energy-efficient systems, continues innovating. Following recent success, the partners are now working on a resource-saving concept integrating Monforts’ Thermex dyeing range, Baldwin TexChroma spray system, and Archroma dyestuffs.
“We’re committed to driving transformative change in dyeing and finishing,” added Saskia Kuhlen, Technologist, Monforts.
The VDMA webtalk, titled “Driving Innovation in Sustainable Textile Finishing and Beyond”, will be held from 14:00 to 15:30 CET on September 18, with invitations to be published via VDMA’s LinkedIn a week prior.
