Archroma and V.J.T.I. Partner to Drive Green Innovation

Archroma, a global frontrunner in sustainable specialty chemicals, has joined forces with Mumbai-based Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (V.J.T.I.) in a strategic initiative aimed at advancing green chemistry and sustainable technologies. This industry-academia collaboration will bridge practical chemical innovation with academic research to tackle urgent environmental challenges.
The partnership is set to promote R&D in eco-friendly solutions, such as safer chemicals, renewable energy (biofuels and hydrogen), and sustainable materials like bioplastics and advanced composites. A core focus lies in water treatment, especially in developing advanced wastewater recycling and resource recovery systems.
To cultivate the next generation of sustainability leaders, V.J.T.I. is introducing a new course titled “Sustainability: Industry Perspectives for a Greener World,” co-designed with Archroma. This course blends theoretical knowledge with real-life industrial applications, covering waste management, ESG frameworks, and carbon emissions metrics.
Anjani Prasad, VP South Asia at Archroma, emphasized that sustainability is central to the company’s innovation model. He noted that this partnership will leverage global industrial insight and academic rigor to create practical, scalable green solutions.
Further components include collaborative research projects, life cycle analysis tools, carbon footprint modeling, and policy advocacy to encourage responsible environmental legislation. Community engagement via seminars and grassroots workshops will promote sustainable practices locally.
Efforts will also focus on boosting CSR funding, improving lab infrastructure, hosting guest lectures, and launching internship programs to foster real-world student experience and industry-driven research.
