Apraava Energy Secures Interstate Transmission Project in Andhra Pradesh

Company acquires Ananthpuram Transmission Limited to develop transmission infrastructure supporting the evacuation of approximately 3 GW of renewable energy

Apraava Energy, an integrated energy solutions provider, has announced the acquisition of the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), Ananthpuram Transmission Limited, for the development of an interstate transmission project in Ananthapur, Andhra Pradesh.

The project was awarded under the Government of India's Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process.

Transmission Infrastructure to Support Renewable Energy

The project includes the construction of approximately 250 circuit kilometres (ckm) of 765 kV transmission lines, along with a 4,500 MVA (3x1500 MVA) 765 kV pooling station. It will also include the installation of a ±300 MVAR Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM).

According to the company, the transmission infrastructure will support the integration and evacuation of approximately 3 GW of renewable energy from the Ananthapur region, strengthening interstate power transmission in Andhra Pradesh.

Project to Be Developed Under BOOT Model

The transmission asset will be developed under the Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) model.

Following commissioning, the project will provide transmission services for a 35-year concession period. The project is scheduled for completion within 36 months from the date of signing the Transmission Service Agreement (TSA).

Apraava Energy also stated that the project is expected to generate direct and indirect employment opportunities during both the construction and operational phases.

Managing Director's Statement

Rajiv Ranjan Mishra, Managing Director, Apraava Energy, said:

"Apraava is pleased to expand its transmission footprint in Andhra Pradesh. The state’s strong development trajectory, progressive approach to clean energy, and immense renewable energy potential make it an important part of India’s energy transition. We are particularly excited to mark this as our first investment in Andhra Pradesh and look forward to exploring more opportunities to invest in the state. A strong and resilient transmission network is fundamental to unlocking this potential and strengthening India’s long-term energy security. At Apraava Energy, we are proud to partner in this national endeavour by developing high-quality transmission assets that strengthen the grid, enable renewable energy integration, and support India's sustainable growth."

Expanding Transmission Portfolio

Apraava Energy currently operates three transmission assets, comprising approximately:

  • 1,000 circuit kilometres (ckm) of transmission lines
  • 3,500 MVA of substation capacity

With the addition of Ananthpuram Transmission Limited, the company now has four greenfield transmission projects under construction, which together will add:

  • Approximately 1,180 circuit kilometres (ckm) of transmission lines
  • Approximately 13,500 MVA of substation capacity
