Amazon India and TEXPROCIL Sign MoU at Bharat Tex 2026 to Expand Ecommerce Exports for India’s Cotton Textile Industry

Partnership to support cotton textile manufacturers and exporters through exporter awareness, seller enablement, and access to Amazon Global Selling’s international marketplaces.
Amazon India has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council (TEXPROCIL) to accelerate ecommerce exports from India’s cotton textile industry. The MoU was signed at Bharat Tex 2026 in New Delhi in the presence of Dr. Siddhartha Rajagopal, Executive Director, TEXPROCIL.
The collaboration is designed to support cotton textile manufacturers, exporters, and TEXPROCIL members in building global businesses through Amazon Global Selling by strengthening exporter readiness and improving access to international markets.
India’s cotton textile sector plays a significant role in the country’s manufacturing and export ecosystem, supporting millions of farmers and thousands of textile manufacturers. India is also among the world’s leading suppliers of home textiles, with categories such as bedding, bath linen, kitchen linen, and home furnishings witnessing continued demand in international markets.
As part of the agreement, Amazon India and TEXPROCIL will jointly conduct a structured exporter awareness and seller enablement programme. The initiative will provide exporters with information and tools to understand international demand, navigate cross-border trade, and access Amazon’s global marketplaces.
Through Amazon Global Selling, TEXPROCIL members will gain access to international marketplaces across the United States, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Canada, Germany, Australia, and other countries.
Commenting on the collaboration, Dr. Siddhartha Rajagopal, Executive Director, TEXPROCIL, said:
"India's cotton textile industry is globally recognized for its quality, craftsmanship and manufacturing capabilities. Ecommerce exports are rapidly emerging as one of the most significant growth opportunities for Indian textile businesses, enabling manufacturers to reach customers directly, diversify beyond traditional export channels and build global brands. We are already seeing an increasing number of Indian home textile and apparel brands successfully expand their international presence through ecommerce. Through this collaboration with Amazon Global Selling, we aim to equip our members with the knowledge, tools and ecosystem support needed to capitalize on this opportunity and accelerate their growth in international markets."
Srinidhi Kalvapudi, Head, Amazon Global Selling, India, said:
"India's textile industry has long been one of the country's strongest export sectors, with manufacturers producing world-class products that are sought after by customers around the world. Categories such as bedding, bath and home furnishings continue to see strong demand across Amazon's international marketplaces, creating significant opportunities for Indian exporters to reach global customers. Through our collaboration with TEXPROCIL, we aim to help more cotton textile exporters harness ecommerce exports to build global brands and grow internationally. As global demand grows for quality, authenticity and traceability—we see a significant opportunity for Brand India to further strengthen its position as a trusted source of high-quality, premium textile products. This collaboration is another step towards our goal of enabling USD 80 billion in cumulative ecommerce exports from India by 2030."
The collaboration will include online and offline awareness sessions, workshops, and ongoing guidance for exporters at different stages of their ecommerce journey. The programme will also provide training for nominated TEXPROCIL representatives, educational resources on cross-border ecommerce, and offline seller communities to encourage knowledge sharing and long-term business development.
Under the MoU, TEXPROCIL will identify exporters with growth potential, facilitate connections between manufacturers and prospective sellers, and distribute Amazon Global Selling educational resources through its communication channels. The two organisations will also assess opportunities for central and state policy support for ecommerce exports from India’s cotton textile sector, with Amazon providing industry insights.
India’s textile sector recorded 2.1% growth in total textile exports, including handicrafts, during FY 2025–26, increasing from ₹3.10 lakh crore to ₹3.16 lakh crore. TEXPROCIL represents approximately 2,000 companies across India’s major textile clusters and continues to promote cotton textile exports.
Amazon stated that since the launch of Amazon Global Selling in India in 2015, the programme has enabled over 200,000 exporters across 200+ cities to sell millions of Made in India products to customers in more than 200 countries, generating over USD 20 billion in cumulative ecommerce exports between 2015 and 2025. The company has also committed to enabling USD 80 billion in cumulative ecommerce exports from India by 2030.
