ALVA Industries to Showcase Frameless Motor Technologies and Live Demonstrations at SPS 2026
The Norwegian manufacturer will present its SlimTorq™ and GearTorq™ motor series, interactive demonstrations and motor-design platform in Nuremberg from 24–26 November.
ALVA Industries (ALVA), a manufacturer of frameless motors and developer of FiberPrinting™ technology, will exhibit at SPS – Smart Production Solutions 2026 in Nuremberg, Germany, from 24–26 November. At Hall 4, Booth 154, visitors can explore the company’s frameless motor technologies and see demonstrations developed with industry partners.
Live demonstrations of frameless motor applications
ALVA will present demonstrations showing how frameless motors can be integrated into compact, high-performance motion systems.
Nabtesco: Super-Short Actuator
Developed in collaboration with Nabtesco, the Super-Short Actuator will make its debut at SPS 2026. The system combines ALVA’s frameless motor technology with Nabtesco’s precision gearing.
The actuator is designed to deliver high performance in a more compact package, achieving approximately 30% reductions in both length and weight compared with comparable actuator solutions. It can also be paired with a motor controller developed by adcos, part of the Nabtesco Group.
Siboni and FLUX: Integrated Direct-Drive Solution
Another demonstration, developed with Siboni, features ALVA’s SlimTorq™ STM-130-27-M motor integrated into a framed direct-drive assembly with a FLUX inductive encoder.
The setup demonstrates the integration of frameless motor technology into complete motion systems for applications such as gimbals, optronics, exoskeletons and semiconductor equipment.
Slotted vs. Slotless Motor Technologies
ALVA will also offer a hands-on demonstration comparing slotted and slotless motor technologies. Visitors will be able to interact with both motors, experience differences in cogging torque, explore holding torque capabilities and observe how slotless technology enables smooth motion and precise control.
Solo Motor Controllers: Haptic Feedback Simulator
Developed in collaboration with Solo Motor Controllers, the haptic feedback simulator compares slotted and slotless motor technologies in automotive applications.
The demonstration illustrates how differences in cogging torque can affect motor behaviour, highlighting the benefits of zero cogging torque for smooth and precise motion. Visitors can experience the differences between the technologies and understand their impact on practical applications.
SlimTorq™ and GearTorq™ motor series
ALVA will present its SlimTorq™ and GearTorq™ frameless motor series, both manufactured using the company’s proprietary FiberPrinting™ technology.
SlimTorq™
Designed for applications requiring smooth and precise motion, SlimTorq™ offers zero cogging, high torque density and a compact, lightweight design. Its large through-hole makes it suitable for direct-drive applications, including gimbals, robotics and semiconductor equipment.
GearTorq™
ALVA’s GearTorq™ series is developed for geared applications and actuator systems. Its compact outer diameter and large through-hole allow gear components to be integrated within the motor.
The series is designed to deliver high torque density and high peak torque without torque saturation. It is available in 39 mm, 64 mm and 88 mm outer diameters, with multiple winding options and scope for further customisation.
TorqStudio platform for motor design
Visitors can also explore TorqStudio, ALVA’s online platform for motor creation and analysis, through live demonstrations at the booth.
The platform enables engineers to design, customise and evaluate motor configurations according to specific application requirements.
