Alva & Copley to Demo Motion Tech at Automatica 2025

Trondheim, Norway / Massachusetts, USA – June 23, 2025 – ALVA Industries and Copley Controls have announced a joint live demonstration at Automatica 2025, highlighting the seamless integration of ALVA’s SlimTorq™ frameless motors with Copley’s Accelnet BPL-090-30 servo drive.
The demo, set up at ALVA’s booth (Hall B6, Booth 521), will showcase how the zero-cogging SlimTorq™ motor and the compact servo drive from Copley work in tandem to deliver smooth and precise motion. This collaborative setup reflects both companies’ focus on enhancing performance and flexibility in automation and robotics.
“We’re excited to demonstrate our high-performance servo drives alongside Alva’s zero-cogging torque motor,” said Ryan LaVoie, Director of Product Management & Marketing, Copley Controls. “Together, we’re showcasing a motion control solution that delivers unmatched precision, smoothness and efficiency — ideal for today’s most demanding applications.”
Anton Franzén, Director of Product Management & Application Engineering at ALVA Industries, added, “Partnering with Copley Controls allows us to show just how seamlessly SlimTorq™ integrates into advanced motion systems. This demo proves that high performance and clean integration can go hand in hand.”
At the heart of the demonstration is ALVA’s SlimTorq™ series, built for compact integration in applications requiring low cogging and high torque density. The slotless, frameless design with a large through-hole makes it suitable for robotics, gimbals, and precision medical devices.
This is powered by Copley’s Accelnet BPL-090-30 servo drive, a versatile DC-powered system delivering up to 15A continuous current. It supports CANopen DS-402, multiple motion modes (Profile Position, Interpolated Position, Homing), and is easy to configure using CME 2™ software. Compact and adaptable, it supports both incremental and absolute encoders for varied feedback needs.
