Aersulate® Wadding earns Top Ten recognition at PERFORMANCE DAYS Munich for its ultralight, aerogel-enhanced insulation technology.

Outlast Technologies is spotlighting Aersulate® Wadding at PERFORMANCE DAYS Munich, where its aerogel-infused insulation was selected among the Top Ten innovations for exceptional thermal efficiency and low-volume performance.

Outlast Technologies is presenting Aersulate® Wadding—its advanced, NASA-inspired fiber-based insulation—at PERFORMANCE DAYS Munich. The material earned a place in the show’s Top Ten Innovation Forum, chosen from more than 2,000 fabric entries for its strong thermal performance delivered at remarkably low volume.

Aersulate® is built around aerogel, the lightest solid material on Earth, composed of up to 99% air. Outlast integrates an exceptional 50% aerogel by volume directly into viscose fibers, resulting in insulation that is ultra-lightweight while offering outstanding thermal capability.

Verified Thermal Performance

Independent laboratory testing demonstrates the material’s strong efficiency gains over traditional insulations:

  • +35% higher RCT values in wadding
  • Up to +37% higher RCT in needlefelt applications
  • Equivalent warmth with up to 35% less volume, avoiding unnecessary bulk

High Performance Under Compression

Aersulate® Wadding excels especially in scenarios where standard insulation materials typically fail—when compressed. Air is a natural insulator, yet conventional fills lose their trapped air under pressure (such as kneeling or sitting), resulting in reduced warmth. Due to its exceptionally high aerogel loading—50% by volume—Aersulate® maintains air within a stable, porous internal structure that prevents it from being expelled. This ensures consistently high insulation even when compressed and in humid environments. From outdoor and ski apparel to professional workwear, Aersulate® delivers dependable thermal protection.

Sustainability at Its Core

The insulation combines aerogel derived from quartz sand with renewable, wood-based viscose, offering a responsible, animal-free alternative to down or synthetic fills—without any sacrifice in performance.
