AEPC Congratulates Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Becoming India's Longest-Serving Elected Prime Minister

Council cites government initiatives supporting textile manufacturing, apparel exports and global market access

The Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) has extended its congratulations to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on becoming India's longest-serving elected Prime Minister.

In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister, AEPC Chairman Dr A. Sakthivel referred to the government's leadership and outlined policy measures introduced over the past decade that have supported India's economic development, industrial growth and export competitiveness.

According to AEPC, initiatives including economic reforms, infrastructure development, digital transformation and global trade engagement have contributed to creating opportunities for businesses, exporters and industries across the country.

Policy Measures for the Textile and Apparel Sector

Dr Sakthivel noted that the textile and apparel industry has benefited from several government initiatives, including:

  • PM MITRA Mega Textile Parks programme
  • Rebate of State and Central Taxes and Levies (RoSCTL) Scheme
  • Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for textiles
  • National Logistics Policy
  • Ease of doing business reforms

According to the council, these measures have supported India's manufacturing base and export ecosystem.

Dr Sakthivel said:

"The apparel industry deeply appreciates the Government's sustained support towards enhancing the competitiveness of India's textile and apparel value chain. These initiatives have helped generate employment, strengthen MSMEs, attract investments and improve India's position in the global sourcing landscape."

Expansion of Global Trade Access

The AEPC Chairman also referred to India's Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements, stating that the country has secured preferential market access through recently signed trade agreements with 38 countries, creating opportunities for Indian apparel exporters in international markets.

5F Framework for Textile Value Chain

Dr Sakthivel highlighted the Prime Minister's 5F framework:

  • Farm to Fibre
  • Fibre to Factory
  • Factory to Fashion
  • Fashion to Foreign

He stated that the framework has provided direction for the integrated development of India's textile and apparel value chain while supporting sustainability, innovation, skill development and investment promotion.

Industry Commitment

The council stated that the apparel export industry remains aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and will continue contributing to employment generation, export growth, investment promotion and the development of India's textile and apparel sector.

AEPC also conveyed its gratitude to the Prime Minister and extended its best wishes for his continued leadership.
