The Renewable Materials Conference 2026 (RMC) will take place from 22–24 September 2026 in Siegburg/Cologne, Germany. The event will feature presentations, panel discussions, workshops and an exhibition focused on developments in the renewable carbon economy. Organiser nova-Institute expects 400–500 participants from around the world.

The conference focuses on developments in the renewable carbon economy, including areas such as bioeconomy, carbon capture and utilisation (CCU), and recycling technologies related to the defossilisation of chemicals and materials using renewable carbon sources. Companies, suppliers, SMEs and start-ups are invited to present their innovations through presentations, workshops, exhibition stands, posters or sponsorship activities. Networking sessions throughout the conference days, as well as two evening events, will provide opportunities for interaction among participants.

The conference programme offers 75 speaker slots across five topic areas: defossilisation of the chemical industry, fossil-free plastics, policy and framework conditions, regenerative business models and biodegradation. These sessions will be organised across two parallel programme tracks during the three-day event. The deadline for submitting abstracts is 15 March 2026.

Participants may also apply for one of the 16 workshop slots that will run parallel to the main conference programme. These workshops provide an additional format for presenting and discussing topics with experts and potential clients.

Additional participation options include exhibition stands, sponsorship opportunities and applications for the Innovation Award “Renewable Material of the Year 2026.” The deadline for award submissions is 3 May. Associations are also invited to become partners of the Renewable Materials Conference.

Registration for the conference is currently open. Participants can receive a 20% discount on tickets until 15 March, and a 10% discount until 16 August.

The nova-Institute acknowledged several organisations supporting RMC 2026. UPM Biochemicals (FI) is participating as Platinum Sponsor, while Leaf Biotech (CN) and GS Biomats Co., ltd (CN) are supporting the conference as Gold Sponsors. The innovation award “Renewable Material of the Year 2026” is sponsored by Covestro (DE).

RMC is also supported by industry and trade associations, non-profit organisations, research institutions and interest groups associated with the conference themes. These include AVK (DE), BCNP (DE), C.A.R.M.E.N. (DE), ChemCologne (DE), ChemieClusterBayern (DE), CLIB (DE), CO2Value Europe (EU), European Bioplastics (EU), IBB Netzwerk (DE), kunststoffland NRW (DE), NRW.Energy4Climate (DE), Plastics Europe (DE) and Renewable Carbon Initiative (EU).
