The Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITA) has announced new targets to improve the domestic garment sector’s sustainability credentials.

In the short-term, it will task factories with cutting their energy consumption by 15 per cent and water usage by 20 per cent by the end of 2023.

VITA’s general secretary, Truong Van Cam, says the goals have been established with the view to complying with textile legislation that’s on the horizon within Europe.
