The top trade negotiators of China and the United States will have a face-to-face meeting in Washington in early October to push forward talks to resolve their trade war, reported the South China Morning Post.

Chinese Vice-Premier Liu He and the United States’ Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin shared a phone conversation on Thursday, their first since their phone call on August 13, state-run broadcaster CCTV said. The report said both sides agreed to make concrete efforts to create positive conditions to continue dialogue. After their previous phone call, US President Donald Trump said the two sides would meet in September. Since then, both countries have increased tariffs on imports of each other’s products, and China has said it
would not make concessions because of US pressure.
