BRUSSELS -According to a new analysis, textile use has the fourth largest influence on the environment and climate change in Europe, after food, housing, and mobility.

Entitled ‘Textiles and the Environment: The role of design in Europe’s circular economy’, the study from the European Environment Agency (EEA) provides updated estimates of textiles’ lifecycle impacts.

It reveals that textiles caused the fourth highest pressures on water, land and raw materials, and was the fifth biggest contributor to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in 2020.
