On Sunday, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced 165 new illnesses and 26 new deaths from the coronavirus epidemic. According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the 165 additional cases represent an increase from the 159 instances previously posted in the country. The Public Health Agency reported that the virus had claimed the lives of 2,882 people in the country. The NCDC also stated that the newest number of confirmed cases has boosted the country’s infection toll to 210,460, with 9,248 active cases and 202,379 cases evacuated all across the country According to the NCDC, 43 cases and three deaths had been reported from the FCT as of Oct. 23, 2021. Taraba and Sokoto states have reported no cases.
According to the Public Health Agency, approximately 3,207,523 million samples of the virus from the country’s roughly 200 million people had been screened. It went on to say that a multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC) activated at Level 2 was still in charge of coordinating national response activities.
Meanwhile, the agency has issued the following advice to Nigerians regarding the Dos and Don’ts of Face Masks: “DO wash your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water before applying a face mask.” DO cover the mouth and nostrils entirely by reaching above the nose, below the chin, and totally covering the mouth and nostrils. “DO be made of numerous pieces of clothing that allows you to breathe, such as headbands and dish towels.”
“DO wash and dry your cloth masks properly.” DO NOT USE SURGERY MASKS, as these are required by medical personnel.
