MoT and Ministry of Heavy Industries to work together to promote machine manufacturing in India

Ministry of Textiles (MoT) is working on a scheme to promote textile machine manufacturing in India and Ministry of Heavy industries will also support in the initiative.

A senior official of MoT shared this information and said that Indian as well foreign companies will be motivated to invest in machine manufacturing. Textile Machinery Manufacturers’ Association (India) will also be associated with this initiative.

On 26 March 2021, Apparel Resources had reported about Amended Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme  focusing on machine manufacturing also!

It is worth mentioning here that majority of machines in textile as well as apparel manufacturing industry is being imported from China and other countries since decades.

There are few machine manufacturers in India, but due to issues like quality, price and advance models, imported machinery dominates the Indian textile industry.

Surat and Ahmedabad are the leading textile machinery manufacturing hubs of India where many machine manufacturing companies are making textile machines. But regarding apparel manufacturing machines or quality machines for value addition, India is totally dependent on imported machines.
