LanzaTech, a biotech firm, has collaborated with lululemon, a high-end sports apparel brand, to develop the world’s first yarn and fabric created from absorbed carbon emissions.
The Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) has launched an inquiry into the Sunset Review provision, which governs the import of jute goods from Bangladesh and Nepal. The directive was issued to protect the Indian jute industry from the rampant import of jute yarn, hessian textiles, and jute sacking bags.
Lululemon’s new collaboration with LanzaTech is just one of the many ways the firm is focusing on bringing innovative technology to the market. The firm has issued its inaugural Impact Agenda, which outlines its multi-year strategy to solve important social and environmental challenges through 12 targets. Lanzatech is well-positioned to be a key participant in these initiatives, having already introduced its carbon-capture and -recycling technology to airlines, home care businesses, fragrance companies, and now textile manufacture.
LanzaTech is collaborating with IGL and lululemon to develop a waste-gas-based polyester formation for the polyester industry. LanzaTech’s Taiwanese joint venture has established a prototype plant in Taiwan to produce polyester from waste gas.
