Dialogues are now underway with 12 to 13 possible investors in order to establish production facilities.
Telangana’s textile sector is ready for a big push that would catapult it into a new orbit, with more than a dozen firms in serious talks with the state government about investments to build up production facilities in various parks around the state.
Many national and international corporations are currently considering establishing operations in Telangana. Some firms are in the last phases of negotiations, while the remainder are in the early and mid-stage stages. The development of the textiles and clothing sector has been a key goal for the State administration from its inception. There has been a continuous inflow of investments from numerous companies to establish their units across the State.
The Department of Handlooms and Textiles signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Gokaldas Images Private Limited (GIPL) to establish a 500-machine garment factory in Sircilla. The facility will employ 1,100 people, with about 75% of them being women, to produce knitted underwear for export. GIPL, founded in 1978, is one of India’s earliest garment exporters, employing over 10,000 people.
Ganesha Ecosphere, which extracts fibre from recycled PET bottles, has begun construction at KMTP. Divya Textiles started three new units during the fiscal year 2020-21. Weaving, clothing, and technological textiles will be the primary areas of focus. Due to Covid-related issues, there were certain delays in the completion of works at development projects in Warangal and Sircilla.
