Online wool sales in Australia dipped marginally last week, with medium and broad Merino wool in high demand on AuctionsPlus.
Last week, the AuctionsPlus online offer board sold 1597 bales, a 103-bale decrease. The platform sold 255 bales of 19 micron wool for 1280c/kg greasy, or 1652c/kg clean, and 295 bales of 21 micron wool for 987c/kg greasy, or 1360c/kg clean.
The most expensive lot sold online was a bale of 15.8 micron Australian Superfine AAASUPM, which cost 2055c/kg greasy or 2842c/kg clean. The line had a staple length of 79mm on average and a vegetable matter content of 0.3pc. Jemalong Wool sold it under the brand ‘Finchley/Craigie.’
Last week’s physical auctions saw the AWEX Eastern Market Indicator (EMI) rise by 55c to finish the week at 1448c/kg clean, or US1105c/kg in US currency terms. The passed-in rate remained high at 4.6 percent. The EMI has climbed by more than 100c/kg in the previous two weeks, returning to pre-COVID levels.
