BRAC and the H&M Foundation to co-host a global conference on Bangladesh’s clothing sector

The three-day worldwide conference to protect the livelihoods of women workers in Bangladesh’s ready made BRAC and the H&M Foundation to co-host a global conference on Bangladesh’s clothing sector garment sector is slated to begin on June 22. The conference will bring together industry professionals from all around the world in an effort to preserve the lives of women garment workers, who are being impacted primarily by automation. It is projected that around 60% of people would lose their employment as a result of automation.
On June 19-20, the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association RMG will host its annual conference in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The RMG initiative intends to offer new opportunities for women to work in a future dominated by technology. The seminar will be attended by Helena Helmersson, CEO of H&M Group, and Faruque Hassan, President of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturing Association.
In Dhaka, Bangladesh, the H&M Foundation is organising a conference to examine the future of women in the workplace. The conference will result in a worldwide innovation competition to generate ideas for increasing appropriate skill sets and improving workplace safety for women employees. The winners will get funds totaling $180,000 for trial implementation.
The H&M Foundation is educating women in Bangladesh on how to work with artificial intelligence and automation. According to Charlotte Brunnstrom, strategy lead at the foundation, the long-term objective is to develop and equip women to work successfully alongside new technologies. According to Asif Saleh, executive director of BRAC, women have played a significant role in driving Bangladesh’s steady economic progress.
