Bangladesh can save $500 million per year by recycling cotton waste, as garment manufacturers and textile mills generate a large amount of the main raw material. The study’s findings were disclosed yesterday during a virtual debate. Circular Fashion Partnership sponsored an event attended by policymakers and fashion industry leaders.

Bangladesh is largely reliant on textile fibre imports and is anticipated to import 1.63 million tonnes of staple cotton fibre worth around $3.5 billion in 2019. Circular Fashion Partnership seeks to promote the growth of Bangladesh’s textile recycling sector by collecting and redirecting post-production fashion waste into the manufacture of new fashion goods.
