Whether you’re looking to enhance your feminine style or prepare for a major event like a wedding, it’s always helpful to know how to rock a full face of makeup. One of the hardest parts of wearing makeup involves the reapplication process. It’s never fun to feel like your makeup is melting off of your face as the hours pass by. Thankfully, there are a few excellent tips you can implement in order to help you increase the chances of maintaining a makeup look that remains in place. Consider the following tips.

1. Develop an Excellent and Well-Rounded Skincare Routine

Your skincare routine doesn’t solely involve making sure you use the right makeup remover. It also involves the way you remove your makeup and take care of your skin. Your skin is very fragile. Especially as it continues to age, handle your skin with delicate care. Don’t scrub your makeup off with a makeup wipe. Use a cleansing balm or cleansing oil in a two-step process to remove the dirt and debris. Invest in quality skin care products that will cleanse, exfoliate, hydrate, and moisturize the skin.

Drink lots of water on a daily basis. When your skin is plump and hydrated, this impacts the way your makeup adheres to your skin. Try your best to avoid dehydrating beverages like alcohol and caffeine as they can impact the luster of your skin. To raise the bar a bit more, hydrate your skin throughout the night by sleeping with a humidifier.

2. Find an Excellent Primer

A good primer is essential because it helps the makeup stay in place. If you take a look at a woman’s eyelids after a long day, you might notice the natural creasing of her eyeshadow. This creasing tends to happen when there’s no primer involved. If a woman has oily skin, it’s really easy for the foundation to slide off at the slightest burst of sweat. If you know that you’ll be underneath a lot of lights or in a warmer temperature, you’ll want to find a primer that can address those issues. Weather temperatures, humidity, and skin type can impact the way a primer works.

Even the level of sweat you’re releasing can take a toll on any given brand of primer. If you take a look at musical artists on stage, their makeup looks remain in place. However, it doesn’t keep them from sweating. If you’re in a situation where it’s hot and bright, primer won’t prevent sweating because it’s a part of your body’s natural response. Thankfully, a really good primer will give your makeup a fighting chance to remain in place in spite of the sweat, oil, and moisture. It’s still an essential item to use in order to help your makeup last all day.

3. Apply Makeup in Layers

One of the main reasons why many people opt to use a beauty sponge or blender to apply their makeup is because it’s so much easier to apply the products in layers. If you prefer to use a makeup brush, this is perfectly fine. However, just make sure that when you’re using a brush, it’s adhering to the skin. Some people make the mistake of using a brush as it merely sits on top of the skin and easily melts off at the slightest touch. Start by dabbing a light layer of foundation into your skin. As that layer dries, apply another layer.

Apply as many layers as you’d like in order to achieve the coverage you’re looking for. When you apply light layers, it’ll take a longer amount of time. However, you’ll create a look that’s more likely to remain in place. Cream-based and liquid-based products are the best for building layers. You can always apply a powder at the end to seal everything in place. You can also opt to use a finishing spray to lock the look in place as well.

Whether you have combination skin, oily skin, or dry skin, attend to the needs of your skin in order to provide the right foundation for a long-lasting makeup application. When you’re able to develop a makeup regimen that works, it’ll become easier to tweak and customize your approach in order to make sure your skin and your makeup effortlessly glow. Don’t become intimidated by the process. It can take time. However, with practice, trial and error, you can get to a place where you’ll know exactly what you need in your makeup bag in order to make your flawless look last the entire day.
