Pak leather goods exports rise by 11.06% in July-Dec 2019

Pakistan’s leather goods exports during the first six months of the current fiscal grew by 11.06 per cent compared to the figures in the corresponding period in the previous fiscal. During July-December 2019, the country exported leather goods worth $274,757 million compared to exports worth $247,397 million in the same period in the preceding year.

According the data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the exports of leather garments increased by 11.9 per cent during the period—about 585 thousand dozens (TH.DOZ) of leather garments valued at $150,551 million were exported compared to 522 TH.DOZ such items worth $134,536 million during the same period of the previous year.

Meanwhile, 3,025 TH.DOZ of leather gloves worth $118,474 million were also exported in the period compared to 2,847 TH.DOZ such pieces valued at $107,287 million in the same period in 2018, according to a news agency report.

During the period under review, export of other leather products also recorded a positive growth of 2.83 per cent.
