Prada, overseen by third-generation family member Miuccia, granddaughter of the label’s co-founder Mario, is best known for all things black nylon. She started making backpacks and holdalls out of military-spec black nylon for the first time in 1979, and now the manmade fabric is at the heart of every product the company makes.
The brand’s latest fully sustainable capsule line of accessories and ready-to-wear clothing has been designed exclusively for Selfridges. A part of the London Department Store’s brand-new Project Earth initiative, promoting sustainability across all of its product pillars.

Prada's Re-Nylon Collection Will Debut at Selfridges' Corner Shop ...

The collection is part of Prada’s Re-Nylon project, which was set up in 2019, which involves all nylon items that have been reused from old clothes and recycled nylon waste, such as discarded fishing nets. The method of de-polymerization and re-polymerization of the yarn can be repeated indefinitely, without loss of quality.
Each piece of the collection is exclusive to Selfridges, available solely in black. The shirts and overshirts are finished with Prada’s iconic triangular metal plaques. The ultimate goal is to convert all virgin nylon from Prada to Re-Nylon by the end of 2021. This collection would make it possible to make their contribution and to generate value without the use of new resources.
