To open up market opportunities antibacterial leather has been set

An interview has been featured with Antonio Battaglia, Leather Director and Co-owner of Italian leather chemical specialist Silvateam for the July-August 2020 print and digital app edition of International Leather Maker (ILM), in which he provides key insights from a recent study the company commissioned into antibacterial properties of vegetable tannins and the commercial potential for the leather industry this will open up in the future.

Continuing with the antibacterial leather theme, also introduces the recent launch of two antibacterial leather ranges and a disinfectant solution by Spanish tannery Tenerias Omega. Furthermore, Nigel Payne, Director of vegetable tanning extract specialist Forestal Mimosa, gives insights into the company’s key developments and growth plans, and shares his outlook on the impact of the coronavirus crisis on the wider industry. He also highlights 2020 as the centeneary year of NTE, the largest mimosa (wattle) extract producer in Africa.

ILM Consultant Technical Editor Karl Flowers, meanwhile, examines key topics across science and technology, including the reduction of water in the tanning process, half tannages and dye-free leather.
