Apparel units go ahead in Tirupur , will resume operations on Wednesday

The industry will start production at 25 percent capacity for the next few weeks.Garment units at Knitwear Capital in Tirupur are set to start production on Wednesday. These units deliver goods worth about Rs 50,000 crore to the domestic and global knitwear market.

Raja M. Shanmugam, President of Tirupur Exporters Association, has confirmed the development and said that the decision was taken in a meeting held at Tirupur District Collectorate today. It has been decided to allow the units to open tomorrow by submitting an application to the District Collectorate.
He said that the inspection would be done later and there is no need to wait till then.Shanmugham said the decision would allow more than 1,500 domestic units, 1,100 export-oriented set-ups, and more than 3,000 affiliated units to operate.
