Factories in Myanmar should be closely and constantly monitored to prevent the spread of COVID-19, according to state counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, who recently said hundreds of factories have reopened after inspections by the health and sports ministries. Myanmar discovered tens of thousands of infections among its workers in the last few days.’

Suu Kyi said, unlike Singapore, Myanmar does not have the financial capability and technology to deal with such a problem and hence, prevention is crucial.

The country’s Sagaing region has reopened 175 workshops and factories and 10 departments, U Zaw Win, regional minister of social welfare, was quoted as saying by a Myanmarese newspaper.
