In a colorful ceremony held at Za’abeel Hall 4 of the Dubai World Trade Centre on November 12, 2024, Satish Kumar Sivan, the Consul General of India to the United Arab Emirates, officially opened the highly anticipated 2nd edition of Brands of India, the country’s largest apparel trade expo.
With more than 150 Indian apparel brands and white-label manufacturers, this much-anticipated show is organized by the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI). It features a wide range of the newest styles in men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing, including casual, ethnic, formal, denim, athleisure, winter, sleepwear, innerwear, tops, bottoms, scarves, socks, and much more. Retailers, chain and department stores, boutiques, wholesalers, agents, distributors, importers, traders, e-commerce, and buying houses from all over the world are thus presented with a unique sourcing opportunity.
Satish Kumar Sivan, Consul General of India to the UAE, stated, “Brands of India is a strategic platform created to help Indian clothing manufacturers take advantage of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between India and the United Arab Emirates, which permits duty-free imports of clothing.” Given the disruptive climate in other major global centers for clothing production, such as Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and China, the event presents a favorable chance to draw in international clients who will learn about the many benefits of sourcing from India. Additionally, Dubai is a great starting point for connecting with the rest of the world.
An elated Santosh Katariya, President, CMAI, said, “India is widely known as a top sourcing location for consumers looking to source high-quality apparel for their markets.” Low labor costs, the capacity to execute small orders at competitive price, decades of experience in white label manufacturing for well-known international brands, and prompt delivery backed by an effective logistics infrastructure are the key characteristics of Indian textile manufacturing. In order to demonstrate the diversity of Indian manufacturing, Brands of India brings together top manufacturers from places such as Mumbai, Jaipur, Surat, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Tirupur, Kolkata, Noida, Ludhiana, New Delhi, Indore, Solapur, and others. It honors our industry’s defining characteristics of global competitiveness, entrepreneurial energy, and the shared pursuit of extraordinary quality.
More than 1500 importers, wholesalers, and retailers from the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Yemen, Egypt, Turkey, Angola, Ghana, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Morocco, Nigeria, Kenya, Somalia, Algeria, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Greece, Singapore, and South Africa have pre-registered to attend the show.
In addition to inviting foreign buyers from over 60 countries and promoting the exhibition widely, CMAI has also offered special benefits such hotel accommodations, food and beverage, and business matching services. Leading Middle Eastern retailers and chain stores, such as Lulu Group, Landmark Group, Al Safeer Group, Brands Group, R&B, and BMA Group, along with retailers and boutiques, are the main attendees of the expo amid positive sourcing sentiments. Additionally, it is anticipated that hundreds of in-person purchasers will visit throughout the course of the three days.
