John Cockerill India Limited & SAIL Sign MoU to Advance Green Steel Solutions

India, 28 November 2024: The largest government-owned steel producer in India and a major global resources firm, Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), and industrial engineering pioneer John Cockerill India Limited (JCIL) inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today in Mumbai, Maharashtra. As part of this strategic partnership, SAIL and John Cockerill India Limited will investigate cooperative projects to create cutting-edge solutions for the Indian steel sector.

The parties to this MOU will investigate several ways to revolutionize iron and steel production while encouraging the use of environmentally friendly, sustainable steel solutions throughout the nation. Incorporating John Cockerill’s cutting-edge processing technologies into SAIL’s upcoming projects, examining the integration of green hydrogen into iron and steelmaking processes, and investigating a joint venture in Cold Rolling and Processing for Carbon Steel, including Green Steel and Silicon Steel (CRGO, CRNO), are the main areas of focus.

To decarbonise the steel industry, collective action and shared expertise are crucial.
