On the whole, Texvalley welcomed on the 4 days of the fair, from 27th November to 30th November 2019, about 220+ exhibitors and 3900+ buyers / trade visitors on WEAVES 2019 at Texvalley, Erode, Tamil Nadu.
WEAVES 2019 One-stop comprehensive sourcing & trading platform for textile manufacturers, buyers from national & international, sourcing agencies, buying houses, brands, wholesalers and the entire textile fraternity. Texvalley is an evolving institution found for a good cause to make our country and the world to recognize the contributions made to the development of textiles in India and around the globe.
We organised the 2nd Edition, WEAVES 2019 from 27th to 30th November 2019 at Texvalley, Erode, Tamil Nadu in association with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Texvalley is a visionary, Futuristic Institution that brings a global connect to the profound textile community of South India.
During 4 day WEAVES 2019, leading textile companies and personalities from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, England, Vietnam, UAE, Dubai, Poland, Australia, etc., participated. In addition domestic buying agents, leading buying houses, sourcing agents, and other buyers from various parts of India like New Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Himachalpradesh, Jaipur, Karnataka, Andhrapradesh, Kerala, Tamilnadu, etc., have visited the fair and attended one to one B2B meetings.
This event has recorded around 5500+ walk-ins in various categories. WEAVES 2019 witnessed contribution from more than 200 textile manufacturers, MSMEs, machinery manufacturers displayed their products – yarns, fabrics, handlooms, readymade garments, finished fabric, etc. WEAVES 2019 attracted the whole industry very well.
The exhibition saw over 350 One to One meetings at specified B2B lounge and in addition buyers directly visited the exhibitors’ products in their stalls and 5500+ business interactions happened during the 4-day event connecting the local manufactures to the domestic and international buyers face to face. Considerable business transaction has taken place in this successful RBSM (Reverse Buyer Seller Meet).
The 4 day fair was inaugurated by Dr A Sakthivel, Vice Chairman, AEPC & CMD, Poppys Group in the presence of Mr Hari Thiagarajan, Vice Chairman, CII Tamil Nadu State Council & Executive Director, Thiagarajar Mills (Pvt) Ltd; Mr T. Rajkumar, Chairman, Confederation of Indian Textile Industry; Mr Nitin Mittal, CEO, Standard Chartered Research and Technology India Pvt.Ltd., Bangalore, Mr Prabhu Dhamodharan, Convenor, ITF, Dr Prakash Vasudevan, Director, SITRA, Mr M Balasubramaniam, Deputy Director & Officer-Incharge, ROTxc, Coimbatore, Mr C Devarajan, Past Chairman, CII Erode Zone and Vice Chairman, Texvalley; Mr P Periyaswamy, Chairman, Texvalley. Dr A Sakthivel presented “Young Inspirations of India” awards to ten successful personalities from various segments of the textiles industry.
WEAVES 2019 also featured the Fashion Show which showed the rich tradition blended with modernity and technology of Tamil Nadu. 15 female & 10 Male models sashayed down the ramp. Students from Textile Designing Institutions at Trichy, Madurai, Coimbatore, Erode, Chennai also walked on the ramp on 2nd day of the fair. The show saw rounds which displayed Traditional, Casual, Ethnic wear and Designing garments designed by 40 designers including 15 designers from Fashion Design Club, Texvalley. Major companies’ brands promoted on stage : The Chennai Silks, Jansons-JDC, KG Denim, Nool by Hand (5P Venture), Twin Birds, Nandu & Prisma.
The conference panels and interaction sessions held on 28th & 29th November 2019. The speakers Mr. Nitin Mittal, Ms. Irna Mutiara, Mrs. Prabha, Mr. M.Balasubramanian, Mr. R.Amalorpavanathan, Mr. N.D.Mhatre and Mr. Kumar Rajagopalan had shared their intellectual knowledge to the audience and participants.
The conference was very useful to the participant audience and those who visited the fair with the special interest on seminars. They could gain the knowledge on importance of forming SPV, Utilisation of fund sanctioned for specific purpose, Creation of CFCs, design and produce goods that are in demand in the market and regular trend updates, Necessity of knowledge, significance of sustainability in textiles, advantages of new age textile machineries, business structure to meet global market needs, etc.
Mr Sengottaiyan K A, Minister for School Education; Mr P Thangamani, Minister for Electricity, Prohibition and Excise; Mr K C Karuppannan, Minister for Environment; Mr Kumar Jayant, IAS, Principal Secretary to Government, Department of Handlooms, Handicrafts, Textiles & Khadi, Government of Tamil Nadu, Mr S Chandramohan, Chairman, CII, Tamilnadu were the chief guest of Valedictory session at WEAVES 2019. Ministers also presented the award to top five textile entrepreneurs who had expanded their business in multi-fold at Texvalley.
Speaking about WEAVES 2019, Mr C Devarajan, Past Chairman, CII Erode Zone and Vice Chairman, Texvalley, said “We are overwhelmed by the response that we have received for WEAVES 2019. This year we saw a large number of potential buyers from foreign countries and this only strengthens our belief that there is an immense opportunity for the weaving fraternity in the region to improve their trade relations with neighbouring counties and to showcase their product to the global customers. The event has attracted about 5,000+ trade visitors / buyers. The 220+ odd exhibitors could generate over Rs.900 crores of business in the four days of the event. About 14 textile promotion councils and 90 weavers associations have participated in the promotion of the event”.

In his Special Address, Mr. Kumar Jayant, IAS, Principal Secretary to Government, Department of Handlooms, Handicrafts, Textiles & Khadi, Government of Tamil Nadu, urged the industry to come forward to create clusters in every part of the State, especially in the southern districts, where there are favourable conditions such as availability of land and skilled labour. He said that the government can form a Special Purpose Vehicle to allot land, and create common infrastructure including effluent treatment plants (ETP), testing labs, and design centres, if a group of units can show interest in forming clusters anywhere in the State. He remarked that there is no other choice for the industry other than investing in the systems of Zero Liquid Discharge, and Common Effluent Treatment Plants. They can make use of government subsidies offered under Integrated Processing Development Scheme (IPDS) that can take care of upto 75% of the project cost.
