PETA Germany has given the Ukrainian denim brand Kseniaschnaider high marks. For their Chewbacca jeans, the firm received the 2024 PETA Vegan Award from the German branch of the animal rights group. PETA Germany commended the company for its dedication to sustainability, pointing out that they adore animals and won’t even throw away little bits of cloth.

Ksenia and Anton Schnaider founded the business, and their $600 Chewbacca jeans are known for their “denim fur,” a texture reminiscent of hair created from frayed offcuts and repurposed antique denim. These jeans won in the “Best Vegan Pants” category.

For many years, Kseniaschnaider’s designs have featured prominently denim fur. This method has been applied to a number of products, including shoes, coats, and a Spring 2023 partnership with New York-based denim company DL1961.

The Denim Fur Jeans by Ksenia Schnaider show that vegan and ecological fashion is always achievable. Wearing vegan clothing is good for the earth, humans, and animals. “We hope other fashion brands will take note of this example and prioritize plant-based, animal-free designs,” stated PETA Germany’s second chairman and co-founder, Harald Ullmann.
