The Accelerating a Circular Economy for Plastics and Recycling Innovation Act (H.R. 9676), a bipartisan bill introduced by Representatives Larry Bucshon (R-IN) and Don Davis (D-NC), is welcomed by the Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS). The law aims to encourage innovation and lessen plastic waste while updating the country’s recycling system.

According to Matt Seaholm, president and CEO of PLASTICS, “this bill is a significant step forward.” We applaud Representatives Bucshon and Davis for tackling comprehensive plastics recycling and realizing the vital role plastics play in our daily lives. To boost recycling rates and make sure plastic trash stays in the economy rather than endangering the environment, we must upgrade our recycling infrastructure and create markets for recycled products. We’re excited to work with Washington lawmakers to accomplish our common sustainability objectives and see this bill passed into law.

The only group that covers the whole plastics supply chain, including suppliers of materials, equipment, processors, and recyclers, is called PLASTICS.

In the $519 billion plastics business in the United States, the association represents more than a million workers.

Devoted to furthering the interests of its members, PLASTICS concentrates on making investments in technologies that improve sustainability and recycling capacities, all the while offering necessities that guarantee protection and safety in day-to-day living. PLASTICS has been promoting the global competitiveness of its members and the eighth-largest manufacturing sector in the United States since 1937. Through events, industry insights, networking opportunities, policy lobbying, and the organization’s staging of NPE: The Plastics fair, the largest plastics trade fair in the Americas, it promotes circularity.
