When textile executives from 21 Pakistani firms visit the U.S. Cotton Belt, they should learn more about why cotton from the United States is the world’s most desired material.Cotton Council International (CCI), the export promotion division of the National Cotton Council (NCC), is in charge of organizing this Cotton USA Special Trade Mission.Pakistan is the third-largest consumer of cotton after China and India, with an anticipated 11.1 million bales consumed in 2021–2022.

The collaborating enterprises in this trade mission use around 4.4 million bales annually as a whole. As of mid-July, U.S. cotton export sales to these tour participants for the 2021–22 marketing year totaled 1.5 million bales.

The COTTON USA Special Trade Mission “is an ideal opportunity to grow U.S. cotton sales now and in the years ahead in this important market,” according to CCI President Carlos Garcia, a Texas cooperative executive. He pointed out that many of the mills on this tour had plans for development. Additionally, we want these textile executives to witness firsthand the superior production and processing practices, environmental responsibility initiatives, and ongoing efforts to improve U.S. cotton.

The team from Pakistan will start their journey in Savannah, Georgia, with briefings from employees of Cotton Incorporated and CCI. After that, they will visit a local cotton plantation and the Port of Savannah. They will then visit a cotton field, gin, and warehouse in South Texas in addition to touring the USDA cotton classing office in Bartlett, Tenn.
