Hong Kong-based apparel industry giant, Epic Group, is making strides in expanding its global presence by venturing into the Indian market. The company has set its sights on establishing its first garment factory in India, with plans to set up a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The group has acquired 40 acres of land at the IDCO Industrial Estate for this purpose, with an investment value of approximately ₹220 crore.
To bring this ambitious project to fruition, Epic Group has enlisted the services of Colliers India, a reputable professional services and investment management company. The manufacturing facility is expected to be a game-changer for the apparel industry in India, with a projected workforce of over 6,000 employees once fully operational.
Ranjan Mahtani, Executive Chairman of Epic Group, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion into India, citing the country’s skilled workforce and textile expertise as key factors in the decision-making process. Mahtani also highlighted the company’s commitment to sustainable fashion practices, stating that the new facility will adhere to socially and environmentally responsible manufacturing standards.
The garment factory, operated by Epic Group’s subsidiary, Trimetro Garments India, is designed to meet global benchmarks and will feature cutting-edge facilities. The first phase of construction, covering 338,000 sq. ft., is scheduled for completion by May 2025, with plans for future expansion to encompass 381,236 sq. ft.
With Odisha’s favourable business environment and strategic location playing a significant role in the investment decision, Epic Group aims to set a new standard for apparel manufacturing in India. The partnership with Colliers India is expected to pave the way for the development of a world-class manufacturing facility that aligns with Epic Group’s vision of innovation and sustainability in the fashion industry.
