Mr N D Mhatre, Director General (Tech), ITAMMA addressed the various opportunities in Product and Process Diversification for the Solapur Textile Industry by taking advantage of MHI schemes – whereby suggestions given were conversion of Towels and Chaddars in Garments with multifunctional uses retaining the same manufacturing set-up with a extension of Garment and / Coating/Lamination process. Mr Mhatre also informed that the Project/special facility expansion can be executed under the State Government scheme of start-up.
Ms Neetii M., Director, M/s Mercury Web addressed on the various applications of Digital Tools and its benefits to the Solapur Towel and Chaddar Textile Industry. She emphasized that these Products being directly used by human beings there is a vide scope to Market them globally through Social Media Digital Marketing, which is being presently followed by many International Companies. Mr Mhatre added that ITAMMA’s Business Enabler Digital Platform developed with SAMBUQ.com Pvt. Ltd. will be an idle place for Solapur Entrepreneurs to Market their Products Globally from Solapur itself. As the inherent component of this Platform ‘SMART DATA CLINIC’ will be enhancing the value to the Products uploaded on the Platform by highlighting their assets in comparison with others of similar nomenclature.
Dr Vijay Athavale, Principal, Walchand Institute of Technology who attended as the Special Invitee informed about the infrastructure available at the Institute for the development of Solapur Textile Industry through joint Projects under the schemes of MHI and also invited Team ITAMMA along with the Industry Entrepreneurs and TDF office Bearers to visit the Institute to work on synergies for working together for the development of Solapur Textile Industry.
Visit to Walchand Institute of Technology benchmarked a tri-partite agreement between ITAMMA,
Institute and TDF proposed to be signed very shortly Industrialists informed during the visit that ‘ breakdown maintenance’ as their burning problem.
Whereby when their machines stop due to the in operation of Electronic cards, they have to either rely on the International supplier/ manufacturers or invite the local technicians for solutions which is resulting in a very high maintenance cost.
Mr. Mhatre informed that through the Government scheme -PMKVY-4.0. ITAMMA along with WIT & CGSSC can organize up-skilling/re-skilling trainings for the man-power in the field of Electronics. It was also informed that a thorough study of the maintenance cost of these electronic cards can be conducted by the WIT which will help the Industry to know the expected life and the maintenance cost of these electronic cards/circuits/components. Also a checklist may be prepared by WIT of the aspects needed to be monitored in the department itself for avoiding the damage of these components apart from the fluctuation of the electricity. It was also suggested to develop a tool which will stop the machine immediately as the electricity power fluctuates beyond the safety limits.

Mr N D Mhatre, Director General (Tech), ITAMMA in his presentation on Product & Process diversification for the Ichalkaranji Textile Industry informed that presently in Ichalkaranji the business is mainly based on job work pattern and so the Entrepreneurs feels safe in continuing this pattern. However there is a need of strengthening the backward integration of the Products/business by the development of Spinning Process and also the forward integration can be encouraged by setting –up dyeing &/ printing process houses with expansion of amination/coating facilities, thus adding value to the Products and Processes and entering the new markets of Technical Textiles.
At present the cloth produced at Ichalkaranji is sent to some other dyeing &/ printing process houses and so there is the scope of the development of Process houses in Ichalkaranji itself,
extended with in-house facility of coating /special finishes thus will help to solve the requirement of Wet-Processing as well as development of new Product with special finish/coat. Such Projects can be established taking advantage of MHI schemes.
