April 2023 Net Fabric Import Price for the United Kingdom

The net fabric price in April 2023 was $16,153 per tonne (CIF, United Kingdom), down -48.9% from the previous month. However, the import price saw a generally modest increase. With a month-over-month gain of 324% in July 2022, the growth rate was at its fastest. In March 2023, the import price reached its highest point of $31,584 per tonne before rapidly declining the following month.

The highest priced nation was Turkey ($27,702 per tonne), while Iran had some of the lowest prices ($8,243 per tonne). Prices varied substantially by place of origin.

Ireland (+16.1%) witnessed the highest rate of price growth between April 2022 and April 2023, while the prices of the other major suppliers saw more moderate rates of growth.

United Kingdom Net Fabric Imports

After two months of decline, purchases of tulles and other net textiles from abroad grew by 127% to 12 tonnes in April 2023, marking the third consecutive month of growth. However, imports fell significantly overall. With a 247% increase over the prior month, August 2022 saw the fastest growth rate.

United Kingdom Net Fabric Imports by Country 

With a 64% share of all imports in April 2023, Iran (7.7 tonnes) was the UK’s greatest net fabric supplier. Furthermore, net fabric imports from Iran were three times higher than those from China, the second-largest  provider (2.8 tonnes). Turkey (620 kg), with a 5.1% share, came in third place in this ranking.

The average monthly growth rate of volume from Iran from April 2022 to April 2023 was -4.7%. The average monthly rates of import growth for the remaining providing nations were as follows: China (-18.3% monthly) and Turkey (-16.8% monthly).

With a combined 61% share of all imports, Iran ($64K), China ($35K), and Italy ($21K) were the three greatest net fabric suppliers to the UK in value terms.

Italy witnessed the highest rates of growth in terms of the value of imports among the major providers over the examined period, while purchases for the other leaders saw a fall. Italy’s CAGR was -0.1%.
