U.S. Synthetic Filament Tow Import Price in May 2023
The price of synthetic filament tow was $1,542 per tonne (CIF, US) in May 2023, down -2.2% from the previous month. The import price trend pattern was generally quite flat. The highest growth rate was observed in August 2022, when there was a 19% increase from the previous month. In September 2022, average import prices throughout the period under review reached a record high of $2,143 per tonne; but, from October 2022 to May 2023, import prices failed to pick up steam.
The primary providing nations’ average pricing varied significantly from one another. Japan had the highest price in May 2023 ($4,166 per tonne), while China had some of the lowest prices ($767 per tonne).
Taiwan (Chinese) (+0.7%) witnessed the highest rate of price growth from May 2022 to May 2023, while the prices of the other main suppliers showed a variety of trend patterns.
