Dr. Perc Pineda, Chief Economist of PLASTICS, has published an analysis on recyclable plastic materials for the Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS). As officials gather in France to address the worldwide crisis of plastic waste, the economic analysis takes into account the millions of workers engaged in the global supply chain of the plastics sector.

“There is broad support from different sectors of the global economy to address environmental threats in a materials-neutral manner,” Dr. Pineda adds. Additionally, it is recommended that no negotiated plastics-related restrictions be used to restrict the market access of plastic materials and goods. Making sure that measures to prevent plastic trash from entering the environment and the economy do not unjustly hinder the trade of plastic materials and products, allowing equal opportunities for all participants in the global market.”
